KL Rahul and Shubman Gill Likely to Play in The Boxing day Test: Aakash Chopra

Indian commentator Aakash Chopra believes that the duo of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill will most definitely get a chance in the upcoming Boxing day Test against Australia.

Following India’s nightmarish outing in the second innings of the pink ball Test at the Adelaide where they suffered the ignominy of registering their lowest-ever Test total, speculations have been rife that the management might make wholesale changes in the batting-unit.

Aakash Chopra feels that the duo of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill will replace Shaw and Kohli for the Boxing Day Test.

“It looks like Prithvi Shaw is not going to get a chance in the second match. And I can totally understand because he has not scored the runs, and his confidence is down. If the team says it is short-term and, it doesn’t mean he will not be considered in the future, they can definitely do that. They should play someone who is in the right mental space and who they feel can provide a good start,” Aakash Chopra said on his Facebook video.

Chopra signed off by saying that whoever opens the innings with Agarwal will eventually make way for Rohit Sharma, who is set to make a comeback to the team from the New Year Test.

“My vote is with KL Rahul, but they are likely to go with Shubman Gill.” But whether you open with KL Rahul or Shubman Gill, the sword will be hanging over their head as Rohit Sharma will be back for the next Test,” Aakash Chopra added.
