London Spirit Woman (LNS-W) hopes to reach the top three in playoffs with the help of Deepti Sharma in 100 Women league 2021
The Spirit of London secured their third victory with only two balls to spare, chasing 128 runs to beat the Women’s Hundred by five wickets in Manchester. Deepti Sharma performed brilliantly on Tuesday (August 10) to win the match by two wickets with the help of 34 not out off 26 balls.
The win kept the Spirit looking for a playoff spot, although Manchester Originals remained at the bottom of the line with just one win in six games.
Emma Lamb of The Originals scored 30 off 24 balls in the opening stand, with Lizelle Lee facing just seven without a score. Lee was first trapped by Deepti, who was eventually adjudged player of the match for taking two wickets for just 10 runs while bowling 11 dots in 20 balls.
Lamb and Mignon du Preez played superbly, being Lamb dismissed for 39 in the first half. Du Preez was dismissed for 31 for 27, but Sophie Ecclestone’s 32 off 26 balls helped Manchester Originals Women to score 127 in the 100-ball quota.
Tammy fell for Beaumont duck on the first ball, but Heather Knight (35) and Deandra Dottin (28) added 53 runs for the third wicket to chase down Bhavna. The pair fell within two balls of each other, with the lower-middle order scoring more than 50 runs.
Two wickets from Kate Cross and three from Alex also gave good chance, then Sharma taking the charge, as She did with the ball earlier in the game. She also hit three fours for the sixth wicket with Charlotte Dean (12 *) and scored runs. The pair added 44 runs and Dean also hit a boundary at deep midwicket and her side also went over the line.
