Guiding England to a morale-boosting victory, Root crossed the 10,000-run mark andbecame only the 14th cricketer to score 10,000 Test runs. Root has a total of 10,015 Test runs and is 5,906 behind Tendulkar, who scored 15,921 runs in a career of 200 Tests.

Has become only the second player of England to score 10000 runs in Test cricket :-

Taylor said, ‘Joe Root is batting well. He is at the top of his career, so if he stays healthy, he can score more than 15,000 runs. England great Alastair Cook also praised the former Test captain and said on BBC Test Match Special; ‘I love Root’s batting.’ Root is only the second cricketer in his country to have scored 10,000 Test runs after Cook. Cook left international cricket in 2018, scoring 12,472 runs.
