India batsman Mayank Agarwal has been called up to appear in the upcoming Edgbaston Test against England starting July 1. Agarwal will fly to England on Monday and join the rest of the Indian team this evening. As per the latest government rules, Agarwal will not require to undergo any quarantine. And thus be immediately available to play when required.

Mayank Agarwal to appear in Edgbaston test without any quarantine
The 31-year-old was earlier dropped from the Edgbaston Test nominee. Now Agarwal was included due to KL Rahul’s injury and Rohit Sharma’s non-availability due to Covid-19.
Agarwal last played a Test in March during the home series against Sri Lanka but managed only 59 runs in two matches at an average of 19.66.

Agarwal did not give any special performance in IPL
The 31-year-old scored just 196 runs in the IPL at an average of 16.33 and a strike rate of 122.5. Because the team finished sixth in the table. His poor form with the bat prompted former India head coach Ravi Shastri to suggest that Agarwal’s struggle to cope with the pressures of captaincy eventually earned him a place in the Test team.
