MI vs RR: Ravichandran Ashwin of Rajasthan Royals blames dew for the loss, and says 158 would have been enough if the dew had not made an impact.

The Dew doesn’t Play a Role:-

Rajasthan Royals off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said after his team’s five-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that if dew doesn’t play an important role, then 159 The run target would have been enough.

Mumbai finally opened their account in the current season of IPL by registering a win in this match and gifted their captain Rohit Sharma the best 35th birthday present.

Mumbai Indians had a target of 159 runs which they achieved in 19.2 overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 and Tilak Verma scored 35 runs for him.

Ravichandran Ashwin told reporters after the match, “I think if dew had not played a role then this score would have been enough, but there was a lot of dew, so it felt that we scored 10-15 runs less.”

MI vs RR: He (Ravichandran Ashwin) said, “158 was a competitive score. It was related to how we had started. We did well in the powerplays and took one wicket more than him.”

Ashwin said, “So it was a challenging score and we defended whatever we scored this season. The defeat is unfortunate but the dew played a key role.

The ball was getting overpitched and the spinners could not be used at the end. This is what happens when the dew takes effect.

We had scored well. It would have been good if it was 10-15 runs more but in IPL (of a team) it sometimes happens in 14 matches.

MI vs RR: Rajasthan Royals did not allow Mumbai to do much in the powerplay and also took two wickets but part-time bowler Daryl Mitchell conceded 20 runs in the seventh over.

Ravichandran Ashwin said, “In the last match also Daryl Mitchell did the seventh over. It’s part of our strategy for the sixth bowler, but it didn’t work today. Sometimes that happens.”
