Martin Guptill becomes the highest run-scorer in men’s T20Is, and Guptill surpassed Rohit Sharma to become the highest run-scorer in T20Is for both men and women.
Virat Kohli was left behind:-
Rohit Sharma had become the highest run-scorer in T20Is at the beginning of the year when he overtook the country’s Virat Kohli against Sri Lanka in February.

Guptill, who was close to his heels, has now surpassed Rohit after scoring 40 off 31 balls against Scotland in the first T20I in Edinburgh.
Kohli was the first man to break the 3000-run mark in T20Is when he achieved the feat during the second T20I of the home series against England in Ahmedabad in 2021.
Brendon McCullum crossed eight years ago:-
The 2000-run mark was first crossed eight years ago by Guptill’s compatriot Brendon McCullum. In fact, McCullum was the first player to cross the 1000-run barrier in men’s T20Is as well.
Currently, Guptill tops the list with 3399 runs and is followed by the Indian pair of Rohit (3379 runs) and Kohli (3308 runs). Paul Stirling is in the fourth position with 2894 T20I runs while Australian skipper Aaron Finch is in the fifth position with 2855 runs.
After finishing his career with 2140 T20I runs, Guptill is the only New Zealand player in the top 10 along with McCullum who is currently ranked 12th.
Fifth New Zealand male player to score T20I century:-
While Guptill went about breaking the milestone. His opening teammate added a milestone of his own in Edinburgh. Becoming the fifth male player from New Zealand to score a T20I century.
Allen completed his maiden T20I century in just 54 balls. As New Zealand posted a mammoth 225 on the board, helped by a late cameo from Jimmy Neesham. Who finished 30 off just nine balls.
