Wolvaardt Chased down her Target of 229 Runs:-

Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt got off to a positive start for South Africa in their chase of 229. Lee did not match billing in the tournament.

A bit of hesitation to run between the wickets and the lure of the third run saw Lee lose her wicket, as she was found only a short distance from her crease.

NZW vs SAW: The wicket helped New Zealand put the brakes on the scoring. It was a bit of competition initially for Tazmin Brits but Wolvaardt kept looking for boundaries to keep the run rate under control. The Brits eventually broke the shackles by hitting two consecutive fours in the first over from Amelia Kerr.

Wolvaardt was lucky to take a dropped catch on a few occasions and almost dragged to his own stump, but followed closely with captain Sune Luss. At the halfway stage, South Africa was 105/2, however, 124 runs away from a win.

The Rivalry Score of 228 at Seddon Park:-

The White Ferns captain may have missed out on his second century of the tournament, but his crucial innings helped New Zealand reach a rivalry score of 228 at Rusedon Park.

NZW vs SAW: Devine’s 101-ball knock included 12 fours and a huge six, as her partnerships of 81 with Amelia Kerr (42) and 80 with Maddie Green (30) formed the backbone of New Zealand’s innings.

But Devine’s dismissal in the 41st over resulted in a late collapse, leaving the tournament hosts all out in the 48th overs, losing their last six wickets for just 30 runs.

Fast bowlers Ayabonga Khaka (3/31), Shabnim Ismail (3/27), and Marijane Cup (2/44) led the ball for the Proteas, who are looking to remain unbeaten in the tournament and have a win here. The lead is close to cementing their place in the semi-finals.

Devine lost fellow opener Suzie Bates (4) in the third over as the hosts were reduced to 6/1, but Kerr was reconciled with her captain as the pair began to resuscitate early damage.

Both looked solid until South Africa captain Sune Luss (1/48) interfered with Kerr’s big wicket and put on 81 for the second wicket.

The Experienced Batsman Amy Satterthwaite:-

NZW vs SAW: Luce trapped New Zealand number three lbw for 42 and experienced batsman Amy Satterthwaite (1) fell to Khaka in the next over as the Proteas quickly gained the upper hand.

Devine then fell to a beautiful blueprint yorker and then the rot fell as South Africa cleaned up New Zealand’s tail to make it delusional that their winning goal was not too high.
