ODI World Cup 2023: AFG batsman took a break from cricket before the ODI WC. These days the Afghanistan team is preparing for the ODI World Cup 2023.
Decided to take a break from team cricket:-
The team has to participate in T20 and ODI series against Bangladesh from 5th of July. Meanwhile, before the series, a player of the team has decided to take a break from the cricket of the team.

Opener Usman Ghani, who was left out of the announced squad for the Bangladesh series, has given a blistering statement on social media.
He announced that he was taking a break from Afghanistan cricket and also accused the ACB leadership of being corrupt.

Usman Ghani said this:-
Usman Ghani tweeted, “After much deliberation, I have decided to take a break from Afghanistan cricket. The corrupt leadership in the cricket board has forced me to step back.
I will continue my hard work and eagerly await the formation of the right management and selection committee.
Once that happens, I will proudly return to play for Afghanistan. Till then, I am withdrawing myself from representing my beloved nation.”

Expressed displeasure over not being selected for the series:-
Usman Ghani further hit out at the ACB for not being selected for the series against Bangladesh, saying that ‘despite several visits, I could not meet the chairman as he was not available’.
Also, there was no satisfactory response from the chief selector on my being dropped from all formats. This is the reason why he has decided to take a break from international cricket for the time being.
The last match played against Pakistan
Ghani was part of the Afghanistan squad for the T20I series against Pakistan in March and also played two of the three T20Is.

However, Ghani could not impress much with the bat. He hasn’t played any Test matches and was not in the squad for the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka.
