Pakistan announces ODI squad for series against New Zealand. Pakistan has announced a 16-member strong squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting January 9 in Karachi.

Three home ODIs against New Zealand:-

Pakistan has included uncapped domestic batsman Tyab Tahir in the squad for the three home ODIs against New Zealand in Karachi.

The 29-year-old Tahir holds the List A record in 49 matches at an average of 43.95 with three centuries and 15 fifties.

Opener Fakhar Zaman has returned from his injury and has been included in the squad while middle-order batsman Haris Sohail has also been recalled for the series. Sohail last played an ODI for Pakistan in October 2020.

Squad announced for three-match series:-

Afridi said the selection committee had consulted the team management before announcing the squad for the three-match series.

The ODI series will be played in Karachi with matches on January 9, 11 and 13.

Afridi said, “Before finalizing this team, we asked Babar and Saqlain to give their choice of 16, where we felt things could be better, and we discuss these issues.”

There is no dearth of talent in Pakistan:-

“It was an important responsibility for me, there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan and it made me feel good. I am here for a limited time but it was important to keep Pakistan’s future in mind.

He said, ‘We had the right to choose the team only for the series against New Zealand, but we have made our choice keeping the future in mind. We have also given importance to performance in domestic cricket.
