Last Sunday, after leading Karachi Whites to the National T20 Championship title, Shafiq said in the Reporter Conference, ‘I am no longer feeling the same excitement and passion in playing cricket.

Pakistan Cricket Team Player Asad Shafiq Took Retirement From International Cricket

While announcing his retirement, Asad Shafiq has also indicated that he may soon become the salaried national selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

He has said, ‘I have received the contract from the board and I am considering it and hopefully will sign it soon.’

Shafiq believes that working as a national selector will be a very exciting challenge for him. His wish is to always remain associated with sports.

Shafiq’s International Cricket Career:

Talking about Shafiq’s international cricket career, he managed to play a total of 147 international matches for Pakistan.

During this period, 6188 runs were scored from his bat in 196 innings. Shafiq has 12 centuries and 36 half-centuries in his name in international cricket.

Asad’s bat played especially well in the Test format. He played 77 matches for the Green team and scored 4660 runs in 128 innings at an average of 38.2. In the Test format, he scored 12 centuries and 27 half-centuries.

Apart from Test cricket, he also managed to play 60 ODI and 10 T20 International matches for Pakistan. During this period, his bat scored 1336 runs in 58 innings of ODI and 192 runs in 10 innings of T20.

Pakistan is On An Australia Tour:

Pakistan’s main cricket team is currently on the Australia tour. The green team has to play a three-match test series with the host team here. The test series will start on 14th December.
