Pakistan’s star batsman Azhar Ali will retire from Test cricket after the third Test. One of Pakistan’s most successful Test batsmen and former captain Azhar Ali will retire from the longest format after the third and final Test of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series against England.

Ali represented Pakistan in 96 Tests:-

Azhar has so far represented Pakistan in 96 Tests, scoring 7097 runs at an impressive average of 42.49. He made his debut in the longest format in 2010 against Australia at Lord’s.

During his illustrious Test career spanning 12 years, he scored 19 centuries and 35 fifties. In his swansong Test against England in Karachi.

He will get another chance to add to these numbers and end his Test career on a high. He also captained the team on nine occasions between 2016 and 2020.

The Scored triple century in the Pink ball Test:-

Among his many achievements, Azhar is the only Pakistani batsman to have scored a triple century in a pink-ball Test.

He achieved this feat against West Indies in Dubai in 2016. He scored 302 not out – his highest individual score in Test cricket.

Azhar said, “I have been privileged to share the dressing room with some of the finest cricketers with whom I share a strong bond.” I have also had the privilege of playing under some amazing coaches, for whom I will be forever grateful.

From starting out as a kid as a leg-spinner to becoming a mainstay in the Test batting line-up, I had some of the sweetest moments of my life which I will always cherish.
