Pakistan’s Waqar Younis believes that his former team has every chance of winning the ICC T20 World Cup this year.

The Asian country is currently ranked third in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings and will travel to Australia later this year in a confident position after some decent results in the shortest format of the game over the past 12 months.

Pakistan reached the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and lost only one 20-over contest – also to Australia – as they tasted defeat in favor of Aaron Finch in November last year.
An Experienced right-hander Mohammad Rizwan:-
They also boast of two top-order batsmen in the T20 cricket – captain Babar Azam and veteran right-hander Mohammad Rizwan – and Waqar feels it all bodes well for a strong showing at this year’s event.
“We have a good chance of doing well in this World Cup,” Waqar recently told ICC Digital in Melbourne.
“The pitches in Australia are usually very good batting pitches and Pakistan has got good batsmen who can play really well in these conditions.
“Babar is definitely going to be the key batsman in the top order.
“I think he (Babar) will be the influence he has always been and then, of course, Rizwan is playing very well and the bowling attack he has got is one of the best in the world.
The champion pacer also played with some talented batsmen during his illustrious 14-year international career, including Younis Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, and Javed Miandad.
The current captain does not finish his career:-
While many pundits consider Babar to be equal to or better than those star batsmen of Pakistan, Waqar said that any comparison should wait till the current captain finishes his career.
Waqar said, “Babar Azam looks like a million dollars in modern cricket and he is certainly as good as all the big names.”

“But all those greats have their own strengths and their own class and they all played in different eras and we must not forget that.
“Babar is still very young and has a lot of cricket ahead of him and once he retires you can probably sit down and start comparing him with others.”
