PCB’s big trouble averted, Babar Azam agreed to the board

The ongoing tussle between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the players regarding the central contract has come to an end for the past few days. Top players including captain Babar Azam, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan have signed the revised central contract of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to ESPNcricinfo report, a section of players signed on the condition that they will discuss some provisions after the Asia Cup in September, before leaving for the Netherlands tour.

Senior players had raised objections to certain aspects of the contract.

These also include NOC to playing in foreign leagues. Apart from this, players also want more information on the rights related to the image in International Cricket Council competitions and the participation fee in such competitions.

The PCB has included 33 players in its central contract list for the 2022-23 season.

For the first time, separate lists have been issued for Test and ODI players. The PCB had handed over the contract to the players even before the team’s pre-tour camp in Lahore. However, this time it did not happen every time that the players signed the contract and sent it to the PCB. This time some players objected to some of its clauses and after discussion with their lawyer asked to sign it.

The clause of the PCB’s central contract to which the players have raised objections does not include the issue of monthly retainer and match fees.

• Test match Rs 8,38,530 (Pakistani rupees) for playing
• Players will get Rs 5,15,696 for an ODI
• Players will get Rs 3,72,075 for a T20.

At the same time, if we talk about the retainership fee every month, then the player included in the top slab of the Test contract will get 1,050,000 Pakistani rupees and for the ODI contract, this amount will be 9.50 lakh Pakistani rupees every month.
