Rashid Khan Has Been Ruled Out Of The First Two ODIs Against SL With A Lower-Back Injury

AFG vs SL ODIs 2023: Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka due to a lower back injury. The Afghanistan Cricket Board stated that β€œhe will remain under full medical observation, and is expecting to return for the final ODI on 7 June”.

Exactly seven days after the ODI series:-

The three-match series begins on June 2, with the second match being playing two days later at the same ground. Just seven days after the ODI series, Afghanistan have to play the only Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram.

Rashid recently featured in the IPL where his team Gujarat Titans lost to Chennai Super Kings in the final on Monday night. He was the joint second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 27 strikes.

Ahmed will have to play additional responsibility in the spin department:-

In the absence of Rashid, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb ur Rehman and Noor Ahmed will have to shoulder additional responsibility in the spin department.

Noor also had a successful IPL stint for the Titans, taking 16 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 7.82. However, he has played only one ODI and one T20I for Afghanistan.
