Ravindra Jadeja: India All-Rounder Found Guilty Of Breaching ICC Code Of Conduct

Ravindra Jadeja: The India all-rounder was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. Jadeja was fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point for applying cream to his bowling finger without the permission of the umpires.

Fined 25 Percent of the match fee:-

India’s top all-rounder has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Australia in Nagpur.

Ravindra Jadeja was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to displaying conduct contrary to the spirit of the game.

Apart from this, one demerit point has been added to Jadeja’s disciplinary record. It was his first offense in a period of 24 months.

The index finger was seen applying soothing cream:-

The incident happened during the 46th over of Australia’s first innings on Thursday, February 9. When Jadeja was seen applying soothing cream to his index finger.

In the video footage, the left-arm spinner was seen taking some substance from Mohammad Siraj’s palm and rubbing it on the index finger of his left hand.

In reaching its decision to fine the player with a Level 1 punishment. The match referee was satisfied that the cream had been applied to the finger solely for medical purposes.

It didn’t change the Position of the ball:-

The cream was not applied to the ball as an artificial substance. As a result, I did not alter the condition of the ball.

which would have been in breach of clause 41.3 of the ICC Playing Conditions. Unfair play – Match ball – Changing its position.

On-field umpires Nitin Menon and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan laid the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum official reprimand. A maximum fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.
