Rawalpindi To Host Maximum Number Of Games in PSL 2023

Rawalpindi will host the maximum number of games in PSL 2023, starting with a contest between Multan Sultans and defending champions Lahore Qalandars on February 13 in Multan.

Earlier Playoffs will all be Played in Lahore:-

A total of 11 matches will be played in Rawalpindi, while Karachi (nine), Lahore (nine) and Multan (five) will host the remaining games. The final, on 19 March, as well as the playoffs before it, will all be played in Lahore.

Three women’s “festival games” have also been scheduled in the middle of the PSL – March 8, 10 and 11 in Rawalpindi – involving local and foreign players.

What would be a case for the PCB testing the waters before a full-fledged women’s T20 league in the future? These will all be day games and will be part of double headers with men’s PSL games to follow in the evening.

Inaugural women’s league alongside men’s PSL:-

The PCB earlier had plans to run the inaugural women’s league alongside the men’s PSL, but it was shelved.

As things stand, the goal is to launch a standalone project later this year. The new league – which would have a different name – would have four teams.

The PSL schedule was put in place in December before Sethi replaced Rameez Raja at the helm of the PCB, and the new PCB management hasn’t made any major changes.

There was a suggestion that the opening ceremony is moved out of Multan and held in Karachi. But this did not happen.

The original game of February 21 will be on February 20:-

The only tweak is that the Qalandars. Who had back-to-back games on February 19 and 20, will now play games on February 19 and 21. The original February 21 game between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi is now on February 20.

The schedule is designed to allow four sides (Qalandars, Sultans, Karachi Kings, and Islamabad United) to play five matches in front of their own supporters, one each against other teams.

There will be no home games in Quetta and Peshawar. As their home venues are not ready to host high-profile games, but the plan is to have them ready by PSL 2024.
