A fitting Test retirement for Warner:-

In fact, Ponting believes that Warner’s best opportunity for a fitting Test retirement has already passed.

“Look, I would love it if he can do it. It would be fair if he can do it, finish in front of his home crowd,” Ponting said.

“But he’s going to have to play really well between now and then for that to happen. And in my own heart of hearts, I hope that’s the case.

“I think his career deserves to end the way he wants. Not like being dropped or patted on the shoulder in the middle of an overseas tour and that’s how his career ends.

So I hope he can find it within himself to score a lot of runs between now and next summer.
