Ricky Ponting discusses the shocking omission of Travis Head and forwards Matthew Renshaw and David Warner. Australia batting great Ricky Ponting has revealed that he was not surprised by the controversial omission of star batsman Travis Head

He doesn’t want to suffer the same fate:-

He believes that veteran opener David Warner needs some runs soon if he does not want to suffer the same fate.

Head scored three half-centuries during Australia’s recent Test series at home to South Africa, but Ponting was not surprised that the selectors had left him out given the number of left-handed batsmen in Australia’s top order.

David warner form:-

“I think Head has been left out of this Test match because of his record in the subcontinent, as well as the amount of left-handed batsmen in Australia. So you could probably say the same thing about David Warner.

Unfortunately for David, the other factor behind this is that his record in England has not been good either. The next Test series they will play soon after this is over, obviously with the IPL in between.
