Ricky Ponting discusses the shocking omission of Travis Head and forwards Matthew Renshaw and David Warner. Australia batting great Ricky Ponting has revealed that he was not surprised by the controversial omission of star batsman Travis Head
He doesn’t want to suffer the same fate:-
He believes that veteran opener David Warner needs some runs soon if he does not want to suffer the same fate.

Head scored three half-centuries during Australia’s recent Test series at home to South Africa, but Ponting was not surprised that the selectors had left him out given the number of left-handed batsmen in Australia’s top order.
Honeycomb Compliment:-
Head’s omission opened the door for forgotten batsman Peter Handscomb to play his first Test since 2019 and the right-handed batsman came back with a hard-hitting 31 at number six.
Ponting said that Hands comb’s inclusion was a selection of “horses for courses”.
David warner form:-
Warner was clean bowled by Mohammed Shami in the third over of the day, bowling around the wicket as Australia was reduced to 2/2 in the start of the crucial ICC World Test Championship series.
“I think Head has been left out of this Test match because of his record in the subcontinent, as well as the amount of left-handed batsmen in Australia. So you could probably say the same thing about David Warner.

Unfortunately for David, the other factor behind this is that his record in England has not been good either. The next Test series they will play soon after this is over, obviously with the IPL in between.
“David knows in his heart of hearts that he needs to get some runs in the first half of this series.”
