Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are also not a part of the shortest format and there are indications that the pair along with Rohit may not be re-selected keeping the 2024 T20 World Cup in mind.
Hardik had led Gujarat Titans to IPL victory:-
Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to IPL victory during the previous edition, was seen as Rohit’s replacement after playing archaic cricket as India lost to England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
While Rohit is still recovering from a thumb dislocation, the BCCI press release did not specify whether this is a permanent change or just for one series.
Senior Indian players will be under scrutiny:-
As per reports, some senior Indian players like KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be under heavy scrutiny in terms of their performances.
With several options already performing well on the international stage, the new selection committee may look to overhaul the Indian ODI squad ahead of the World Cup if the senior players don’t perform.
