After India’s humiliating 209-run defeat to Australia in the WTC final and team’s top-ranked Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin being denied a chance, many have started questioning Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

Rohit Sharma will continue to captain the team:-

Several reports indicated that the BCCI is about to remove Rohit Sharma from the captaincy post. However, BCCI officials rubbished all the claims and rumours, stating that Rohit Sharma would continue to captain the team.

Speaking to PTI, a senior BCCI official said: “There are baseless rumors about Rohit being removing from the captaincy.

However, will he continue as captain for the full two-year World Test Championship (WTC) cycle?

He will be around 38 by the end of the third edition in 2025:-

It is an important question, given that he will be arounding 38 by the end of the third edition in 2025.

At present, I believe Shiv Sundar Das and his colleagues will assess Rohit’s batting form after the two Tests before taking any call.”

He further added, “After the West Indies tour, we do not have any Test matches until the end of December when the team travels to South Africa.

This gives the selectors enough time to deliberate and take a decision. By then the fifth selector (new chairman) would have joining the panel and a decision can be taken.
