WTC Final 2023: Ruturaj Gaikwad will not play WTC Final due to marriage. Yashasvi Jaiswal will be included in the team. Gaikwad will not go to London for the World Test Championship (WTC Final).

Gaikwad is to get married next month:-

CSK star Ruturaj Gaikwad is about to get married next month, so he will not be visiting London.

In his absence, Yashasvi Jaiswal will travel to England as one of the reserves.

A BCCI official told The Indian Express, “He (Jaiswal) will join the Indian team as Gaikwad has informed us that he will not be able to travel due to his marriage.

Jaiswal will now fly to London soon:-

He will be able to join the team after June 5. (But) coach Rahul Dravid asked the selectors to choose an option. So, Jaiswal will now fly to London soon.”

Gaikwad was initially linked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as a backup opener for the WTC final, in which India will play Australia on 7 June at The Oval.

Rahul Dravid immediately started looking for an alternative:-

When Gaikwad told BCCI that he can join the team after June. 5, Rahul Dravid immediately started looking for a replacement.

According to The Indian Express, Jaiswal will travel to London in a few days as the team management has asked him to start red-ball practice and he already has a UK visa.

Jaiswal has been in excellent form this season. He scored 625 runs in 14 matches representing Rajasthan Royals in IPL and 404 runs in five matches in Ranji Trophy.
