In the third county, he will play for this season, Sam Northeast has signed a short-term deal with Nottinghamshire until the end of the County Championship.
He started the season with Hampshire but was soon released due to poor form, after which he was mutually released 18 months before his contract expired.
The 31-year-old then joined Yorkshire, scored just four runs in two innings, and played alone T20I Blast. Nottinghamshire was looking for an opener,
In which Haseeb Hameed got a call-up from England, and he turned his attention to the North-East. Their director of cricket, Mick Newell, characterized Northeast as a “proven run-scorer”.
“With Haseeb Hameed in the England team, the opportunity to add Sam Northeast’s experience to our batting line-up is something that will cement our chances in red-ball cricket in the coming weeks,” he added.
“He will join the second team against Derbyshire this week to prepare for red-ball action with four important games to come.”
