Sandeep Lamichhane May Be Included in Nepal’s Squad For The Tri-Series

Sandeep Lamichhane: Lamichhane could be included in Nepal’s squad for the home Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series against Namibia and Scotland in Kirtipur.

Nepal’s squad for the series is likely to be announced by February 10. His name figures in the 14-man squad sent to the ICC for registration purposes.

The event is an ICC tournament – but this could still change once the teams are officially announced. ,

His possible selection was signed after the Nepal Cricket Association revoked his suspension last week. Lamichhane is training with the team in the pre-series camp.

The lifting of the suspension sparked protests in Nepal over the weekend, with calls to boycott the upcoming games against Namibia and Scotland.

Cricket Scotland issued a statement on Wednesday saying Lamichhane’s availability was a matter for Cain and the ICC to consider.

“Cricket Scotland is aware of reports regarding the legal status of Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane ahead of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Qualifier.

“As a governing body, and as a team, Cricket Scotland stands firmly against abuse of all kinds. Which has no place in modern society.

The 22-year-old Lamichhane is Nepal’s most high-profile cricketer. And the only cricketer to have played in T20 leagues in most parts of the world including the IPL, BBL, PSL, BPL and CPL.

He is also the second-fastest bowler in the world to take 50 ODI wickets. And the third-fastest bowler to take 50 T20I wickets. And he last played international cricket in the T20I series against Kenya in August 2022.

He was also the captain of Nepal at the time of the arrest warrant. A position he lost following his suspension. Rohit Poudel will lead Nepal in the series against Namibia and Scotland.
