The Saudi Arabian government is now investing in many sports including the Grand Prix as well as sports such as LIV golf and Formula 1.

At the same time, the next target of Saudi Arabia is to make a different identity in the world of cricket. The Gulf state is planning to come up with the richest T20 league in the world and they have also contacted all the team owners for the IPL 2023 season.

Under the current rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India ie BCCI, Indian players cannot play in any foreign T20 league.

But the Saudi Arabian government has proposed Indian players to play in their richest T20 league.

According to a report in The Age, talks about a Saudi Arabian league have been going on for almost a year and any potential league to be formed in the Gulf would have to be cleared by the ICC and other countries.

Earlier, ICC President Greg Barclay had confirmed that Saudi Arabia is looking to invest heavily in cricket after investing in other sports like football and F1.

ICC President Greg Barclay’s statement:-

“If you look at the other sports he has been involved in. I think cricket would be attractive to him,” Barclay said.

He further added, “Given their progress in the game in general, cricket will do a great job for Saudi Arabia.
