The Perth Scorchers have lost to the Sydney Sixers by seven wickets that night, Saturday 16 January, at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
The loss came with a silver lining, as the Scorchers secured the Bash Boost point to remain in third place on the BBL|10 table.The bonus point came largely thanks to a Liam Livingstone blitz at the top of the order in the first innings.
After being dropped early, the Englishman made the Sixers pay, he crunched nine boundaries on his way to 67 from 38 balls.
Livingstone’s knock included six towering maximums, with one perfectly timed pick-up off his pads that rocketed over the grandstand and was last seen tumbling down Canberra Avenue.
After the match, Liam Livingstone said;
“We thought we had a defendable score, but they’re allowed to play well, we were beaten by the better team tonight.
“We’re not looking at where we’re finishing on the ladder, we’re just concentrating on our next game and trying to build momentum.”
