Shakeup in Pakistan Cricket! PCB Announces New Selection Committee With A Twist. Pakistan Cricket is on a roll… a roll of changes, that is! Since the 2023 World Cup, the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has been making headlines for its constant shuffles.

This time, they’ve announced a brand new 7-member selection committee, and here’s the shocker: there’s no chairman!

Who’s on the Team Now?

The new committee features four veterans – ex-Test players Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, and the former chairman himself, Whab Riaz. They’ll be joined by the national team’s coach, captain, and a data analyst, forming a well-rounded selection panel.

No Boss, More Equality?

PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi, emphasized that all members will have equal power, with no single person calling the shots. This is a major shift aimed at improving Pakistan’s cricket performance.

But will it work?

Let’s see some interesting pointers:

  • Captain and Coach Confusion: The white-ball (limited overs) team still lacks a captain and coach. The PCB is even scouting for a foreign coach, with some candidates having experience in India!
  • Split Captaincy? Shan Masood leads the Test team, but the T20 captain’s position is yet to be filled.

The PCB chairman remains optimistic about the new panel’s performance. However, will this reshuffling truly elevate Pakistan Cricket?
