Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson, Ashwin Not in BCCI’s 20 Shortlisted Players

BCCI World Cup Shortlist: Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson, Ashwin Not in BCCI’s 20 Shortlisted Players. There are only a few months left for the World Cup 2023 to be held in India.

Coach Rahul Dravid for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023:-

For this, BCCI has also started preparations. For this on Sunday, BCCI captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid have shortlisted 20 players for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 (BCCI Shortlist Players).

However, there are no names in these BCCI shortlist players, which include the names of Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson, Deepak Chahar, R Ashwin, and Shardul Thakur.

The Players who missed:

  • Shikhar Dhawan
  • Ravichandran Ashwin
  • Sanju Samson
  • Deepak Chahar
  • Shardul Thakur

Although officially the name of any player has not been revealed yet. BCCI prepared a blueprint for the World Cup 2023 in the review meeting.

The Indian board heard arguments from Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid about the injury crisis and decided to bring back the Yo-Yo Test. Along with yo-yo, BCCI has also added the DEXA test as another parameter for selection.

BCCI has decided that those 20 shortlisted players will be rotated in the next 35 ODIs to keep them fresh.

The board has also asked the National Cricket Academy (NCA):-

At the same time, the board has also asked the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to monitor his workload and fitness till October. The NCA will work with the IPL franchises to manage the workload of these players.

However, due to the absence of Dhawan and Ashwin in this list, it is almost over for them to make a place in the team. Dhawan (37) and Ashwin (36) are at the end of their careers.

The road is becoming difficult for Deepak Chahar, who is constantly getting injured. He has not been able to perform as well since his back and hamstring injuries.

The Chennai Super Kings fast bowler had once again injured himself during the Bangladesh series. He is back at NCA for further rehab. He also looks out of the race for the World Cup.

Thakur has also failed to really make a mark:-

Shardul Thakur has also failed to really make a mark. Unlike in Test cricket, he has not done well with the bat in ODIs and has been out of sorts with Arshdeep coming in.

However, the biggest name which is not on this list is Sanju Samson. The Rajasthan Royals captain is the fourth wicket-keeper in the Indian team.

Due to too much competition in the middle order, he seems to be out of the race. Instead, he will be seen playing a big role in T20 under the captaincy of Hardik.
