Bangladesh batsman Afif Hossain has been ruled out of the last ODI to be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on March 23.

Along with Afif, the team management has also released fast bowler Shorful Islam for the final match of the ongoing three-match ODI series against Ireland.

They have been released to participate in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League for their respective teams.

Less likely to be in the Playing XI:-

A member of the national selection committee confirmed that Afif Hossain has left the team after being dropped from the ODI squad. A member of the selection panel said- “He is going back to Dhaka. The squad has been reduced from 15 to 14.

“There is no particular reason for his exclusion, apart from the fact that his chances of making it into the playing XI are slim.”

We initially wanted a 14-member squad and since we have no injury concerns, they have been sent back to play in the DPL.

Ahead of the ODI series against Ireland, Hathurusingha told the media that the left-handed batsman needed to find his form in order to regain his place in the white-ball format.
