Somerset pacer Jack Brooks has signed a new contract for 2023, with Brooks’ deal set to expire at the end of the 2022 season, but has agreed to the terms of a 12-month extension.

Made his first-class debut against Australia:-

After impressing Surrey Second XI and Oxfordshire in the Minor Counties competition, Jack made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire in 2009 against Australia and later played for Yorkshire.

He signed for Somerset ahead of the 2019 season and took 85 wickets in all three formats of the game.

He has also played a leading role in the club’s community engagement program since moving to the Cooper Associates County Ground.

Put a lot of physical and emotional energy into his cricket:-

After signing his contract extension, Brooks, 38, said: “I am happy. I have put a lot of physical and emotional energy into my cricket over the past 12 months. And I think this summer I will recover from my injuries.” After recovering I am able to show what I am doing again.

“I feel like I’m having an impact on sports. And I’m really looking forward to doing it again next year.

“I think we have done unfinished business as a team. There is a very competitive squad which is one of the reasons I was desperate to stop.

“We push each other, and the goal is to compete for trophies.
