NZ vs BAN 2nd ODI Match 2023: Soumya Sarkar broke Sachin Tendulkar’s 14-year-old record with his explosive batting. The second match of the ongoing three-match ODI series between New Zealand and Bangladesh was played in Nelson today (20 December).

Soumya Sarkar has become the first Asian batsman to play the biggest innings while opening the innings in New Zealand. Before him, this special achievement was recorded in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, famous in the sports world as the ‘God of Cricket’.
Tendulkar had batted brilliantly and scored 163 runs in Christchurch about 14 years ago in 2009. The special thing was that he was not out in this match, rather he retired hurt and returned to the pavilion.
Now after almost 14 years, the Bangladeshi opening batsman has broken the special record of Sachin Tendulkar. During the second ODI, Soumya Sarkar looked in great form in Nelson.

While opening the innings for his team, he faced a total of 151 balls. Meanwhile, he managed to score 169 runs at a strike rate of 111.92. During this period, 22 fours and two excellent sixes came from his bat.
Talking about the result of this match, the Bangladesh team, after losing the toss and batting first in Nelson, managed to score 291 runs in 49.5 overs.
