In fact, Ganguly made a new beginning in the BCCI in 2019, when he became the first Indian cricketer to lead the BCCI.
But in just one year, he could not win over the BCCI officials, due to which he was sidelined on Tuesday.
At the same time, he was found alone, even his close friend and BCCI secretary Jay Shah gave a surprising consent in favor of Roger Binny.
During this, no one spoke in his favor in the meeting:-
According to reports, he was at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. At last, he left the headquarters. During this, no one spoke in his favor in the meeting.
BCCI lost. As far as the BCCI elections are concerned, the candidates completed the nomination process a day before the official deadline, October 12.
At the same time, Sourav Ganguly’s dream of ICC has also come to an end. The officials clearly expressed that they would not support him for the role of ICC President.
Nor as the BCCI representative of the ICC. A source close to the developments told Cricbuzz, “He was clearly looking upset, disappointed, and desperate.”
BCCI Elections: The official reason is that no president has continued for two terms. But it was N Srinivasan who fully supported Ganguly.
He was also criticized for his “non-performance”:-
Srinivasan, 72, was dropped from the BCCI meeting in Mumbai and criticized for his “non-performance”. However, later BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirmed the new office bearers.
Simultaneously, Rajiv Shukla said during this, “Roger Binny has filed his nomination for the post of President. While I have again nominated for the post of secretary, Jai Shah as secretary and Ashish Shelar as treasurer as well as Devajit Sekai for joint secretary.
He further added, “Arun Dhumal is the new governing council of IPL, and Abhishek Dalmiya is also a member of the council, Khairu Jamal Majumdar has also been nominated for the post of council member.”
The BCCI is more political than ever in the current times. The secretary is Amit Shah’s son. Incoming treasurer Ashish Shelar is a big leader of BJP in Maharashtra politics, Arun Dhumal is the younger brother of Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, President of IPL.
Ganguly has no chance to stay in BCCI:-
Incoming Apex Council member Rohan Jaitley is the son of former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. So, without any political backing or backing the ideology of BJP, Ganguly had no chance to remain in the BCCI.
The future lines of Sourav Ganguly are still unclear. He was offered the role of IPL chairman. But he refused.
With no support for the role of ICC President, he will either have to return to the CAB or take up a commentary role.
