South Africa’s Dwaine Pretorius Ruled Out Of T20 World Cup 2022

South Africa’s Dwaine Pretorius has been ruled out of the ODIs against India and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia.

Made out of a fracture in the left thumb of Pretorius:-

A fracture in his left thumb has ruled Pretorius out of ODIs against India and the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Pretorius was the joint-highest wicket-taker for South Africa in the T20 World Cup last year. an integral part of their plans in this format.

Pretorius has featured in eight T20Is so far in 2022, taking 12 wickets at an average of 20.66 and most importantly, scoring quick runs with the bat.

CSA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shuaib Manjra said:-

“The nature of the injury requires surgical intervention and Dwayne will consult Cricket South Africa’s designated hand surgeon upon arrival in South Africa,” said Dr. Shuaib Manjra, CSA’s chief medical officer.

“Normal rehabilitation procedures will be following to ensure that he returns to playing cricket expeditiously.”

Pretorius suffered the injury during the third T20 International against India in Indore on Tuesday.

Pretorius’ Replace in the squad for Australia:-

Marko Jensen and Andile Phehlukwayo are all-rounders naming in reserve for the T20 World Cup, and one of them will likely replace Pretorius in the squad for Australia.

Pretorius is South Africa’s second key player to be out of the T20 World Cup after middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen was ruling out last month with a finger injury.
