Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday announced the schedule of the third season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2022) amid protests taking place in Sri Lanka after the economic crisis.

LPL will be organized from July 31:-

This year LPL will be organizing from July 31 amidst heavy security arrangements. The tournament will end on August 21.

The Australian team is currently on a month-long tour in Sri Lanka, where a three-match T20 series is currently being playing. After this, five ODIs and two Test matches will also be played here.

So far many Indian players have played:-

So far many Indian players have played in the Lanka Premier League. Munaf Patel – Candy Tusker, Manvinder Bisla – Colombo Kings, Irfan Pathan – Candy Tusker, Manpreet Goni – Colombo Kings, and Sudeep Tyagi – Dambulla Viking has represented the franchise.

The LPL will be organising after the Sri Lanka-Australia series. Soon after this, the Asia Cup 2022 will be organized in Sri Lanka itself.

The Lankan Premier League will be competing in a five-team tournament playing the opening match at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Before playing at the Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Announcement of the third season of LPL:-

SLC President Shammi Silva said, “We are extremely pleasing to announce the third season of the Lanka Premier League. which has made a good start towards building its place as a premier tournament in the global T20 league competitions.”

A total of 24 matches will be playing in the tournament. While the registration of international players for the Player Draft of the ‘Lanka Premier League’ will start soon.

The first season of LPL was holding in 2020, followed by the second season in 2021. Both seasons of the tournament have been won by Jaffna Kings, with Galle Gladiators twice as runners-up.
