Sri Lanka hopes that star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga will be fit quickly to take on Australia in the third ODI in Colombo on Sunday.
Hasaranga was ruled out of Sri Lanka’s narrow 26-run win over Australia in the second match of the five-match series on Thursday due to a groin complaint but remained with the team in an effort to join the series later.

Sri Lanka knows how important Hasaranga is to their team structure and the medical staff is doing everything possible to ensure that he takes the field at the R Premadasa Stadium.
Sri Lanka Cricket tweeted, “Vanindu Hasaranga, who suffered a groin strain while fielding during the 1st ODI, is currently under the observation of the team’s medical team.”
“The medical team is assessing his condition and will update the team management on a daily basis regarding the player’s condition.
“Hence, Hasaranga will remain with the team throughout the ODI series.”
Hasaranga hit a quick 37 with the bat and took four crucial wickets in the opening match of the series last week while bowling with a pain in his back and was Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker during the recent T20I series against Australia. There were bowlers too.
Sri Lanka all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne knows how important Hasaranga is to his team and believes the 24-year-old can prove the difference if he is able to make a comeback later in the series.
Karunaratne said of Hasaranga, “He is one of the best all-rounders in the world.”
“If he comes into the team, we will be very strong and we will have a good chance of winning the series against Australia.
“We have a good batting line-up and it’s great.
“As players, we are pushing our level to improve every game individually as well as for the team.
“We can make small mistakes, but as we move forward, we have to correct them.
We are pushing ourselves more than 100 percent to win the series. Hasranga claims hat-trick in T20 World Cup. Veteran batsman Steve Smith is concerned about Australia’s own injury in the third match of the series with Badal.
Smith injured his quad while batting during the second match of the series. And is unlikely to be at risk for a Colombo clash on Sunday.

It could pave the way for all-rounder Mitchell Marsh to return from injury. While Cameron Green and Josh Inglis are the other options that the strong Aussies have.
Australia has already lost Ashton Agar, Marcus Stoinis, and Kane Richardson to injuries this tour. While left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc is expected to return for Sunday’s match.
