Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya de Silva Scored A Brilliant Century in The Second Innings

Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya de Silva scored a brilliant second innings century as Sri Lanka and Pakistan face off in the second Test of the 2-match Test series at the Galle International Stadium in Galle.

A Helped Establish his dominance:-

Dhananjaya de Silva scored a brilliant century in the second innings to help Sri Lanka establish their dominance in the match. He played important innings of 109 runs.

Dhananjaya has emerged as a vital all-rounder for the Sri Lankan team, especially in home conditions. Apart from his batting, he also does a few overs of his off-spin bowling.

Pakistan is chasing a massive target of 508 runs in the match, and if they win it, a lot of records will be broken.

Unknown gunmen were killed outside his house:-

Dhananjay de Silva’s father’s name was Ranjan de Silva, and he was a politician. Ranjan de Silva was murdered by unidentified gunmen outside his house in 2018.

After the murder of his father, Dhananjay missed the opening game of the West Indies tour, but he joined the team after that.

Dhananjay was born on 6 September 1991 in Hambantota and has played in various colleges in Galle, Hambantota, and Colombo.

Made his international debut in a T20I:-

He made his international debut in 2015 in a T20I against Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In 2016, he made his Test and ODI debut against Australia and Ireland respectively.

In 2017, he was awarding the Test Batsman of the Year at Sri Lanka’s annual Cricket Awards. He has gradually become an integral part of the Sri Lankan team in all formats of the game.

Dhananjaya de Silva is not related at all to former Sri Lankan cricketer Arvind de Silva. Arvind is arguably one of the greatest batsmen Sri Lanka has ever produced.

His first wife passed away, and he is currently marrying Anoushka de Silva. There is no confirmed news about their child.
