Sri Lankan coach Chris Silverwood thinks it may have something to do with the weather, as temperatures in Geelong have often dropped into the low teens over the past two weeks.
“The boys are not used to the temperature we’re experiencing,” Silverwood said. “It’s definitely not Colombo. I’m cold too, a little bit.
We had a nice camp in Kandy before coming here:-
You can’t help it. The preparations and facilities provided to us after our early arrival were excellent.
The boys have prepared as best they can. We had a nice camp in Kandy before boarding the plane and coming here. We really made the best of what we did.”
Sri Lanka lost their opening match of the tournament against Namibia by 55 runs and bounced back with a 79-run win against UAE at Simmonds Stadium, Geelong.
“I think we adjusted very well today,” Silverwood said. “In the first game we didn’t read the conditions particularly well.
We certainly didn’t understand them. We are not hiding from it. This is something that we talked about quite honestly at Debrief.
He took 1 wicket against Namibia:-
Dushmantha Chamira has played both Sri Lanka’s matches against Namibia and UAE where she took 1 wicket against Namibia and 3 match-winning wickets against UAE.
“He faced the facts and came out today and applied himself better. The track was a bit slow. We saw if the bowlers hit it hard, it was very difficult to get them out.
So we have to be patient, we have to build the innings and that’s what we did for most of the time today.
“Pathum at the top of the order played a real match-winning knock. He should be very proud of himself for what he has done, which helped the team cross the line.
