The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the schedule for India’s domestic season 2022-23.
Over 1500 matches will be held during the season which will start in the first week of September 2022 and run till mid-March 2023.

The coveted Duleep Trophy will mark the start of a full season, which will also mark the return of the Irani Cup. The Duleep Trophy (September 8 to 25) will be played between six zones (North, South, Central, West, East, and Northeast) on a knockout basis.
The two multi-day tournaments will be followed by the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Two white-ball tournaments will be contested between 38 teams, divided into three groups of 8 teams each and 7 teams into two groups.
The top two teams from each of the four groups will qualify directly for the quarter-finals. The plate group will consist of 6 teams with 15 league matches and the top 4 will directly qualify for the semi-finals while the bottom two teams will play against each other for 5th/6th place.
Both Elite Group and Plate Group league matches will start on 13th December and Plate League will end on 29th January and Elite Group will end on 20th February.

As the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduling to take place in South Africa in February 2023. The women’s calendar begins with the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy starting on 11 October and ending on 5 November.
This will be following by the Senior Women’s Interzonal T20 and T20 Challenger. The 50-over format will then be following by the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy and the Inter-Zonal ODI.

This season both the Senior Women’s Interzonal T20 and ODI were resuming. For the first time, the board will organize a one-day tournament for girls at the under-16 level.
The competition will help girls get exposure to competitive cricket at an early age and help them make a smooth transition to the Under-19 level.
Since South Africa will also be hosting the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in January. The Women’s U19 T20 Trophy and Women’s U19 T20 Challenger will be scheduling from 1 October to 7 November.
