The BCCI General Body Approves Women’s IPL For 2023 During Annual Meeting. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday gave a nod to the much-awaited Women’s Indian Premier League during the Thirty Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai.
The announcement was made during the AGM after several important decisions including the appointment of new BCCI President Roger Binny, who will replace Sourav Ganguly in the role.

“The general body has given the approval to organize the Women’s Indian Premier League,” BCCI said in a statement.
While an official window has been announced, various media reports in the past have pointed to an availability in March next year when the first season of the women’s IPL could be held.
It is expected to be a five-team competition and will reportedly start soon after the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.
According to ESPNcricinfo, each team will have a roster of 18 players and a maximum of six can be foreign recruits.
However, it is possible that an eleven can have up to five foreign players, contrary to the limits of the men’s IPL.
The catch here is that out of these five players, one must be from an associate nation.
Altogether. The BCCI plans to hold 22 matches in the entire season. An announcement regarding the window/schedule will be making later.
Additionally, Senior Men’s Future Tour Program for 2023-2027 and Senior Women’s Future Tour Program for 2022-2025 were also approving during the AGM.
