The BCCI Official Reveals Rohit Sharma Unlikely To Continue As T20 Captain Till 2024. There are thoughts on the names Hardik Pandya and Kohli. The final match of the T20 World Cup 2022 will be played on 13 November.
The Prepared Plan for T20 World Cup:-
After which the World Cup tournament will also come to an end. At the same time, the BCCI has already prepared a plan for the next T20 World Cup keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2024.

A big part of the puzzle is Rohit Sharma. Indeed, InsideSport understands that Rohit Sharma, the captain of all formats, is unlikely to continue as the T20 captain for the next ICC T20 World Cup.
Apart from KL Rahul, as per BCCI’s plan, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant will be drafted after the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be asked to focus on being the ODI and Test captain and can only play T20s in big series and tournaments to keep him fresh.
Not Many Years are left in the age of both the Giants:-
Rohit Sharma is already 35 years old while Virat Kohli is 34. Not many years are left in the age of both the legends of Indian cricket.
Since both are important for India in all three formats, there will be a lot of rotation for T20s. After the T20 WC, the selectors and the eminent BCCI players will hold discussions with both Rohit and Kohli.
A senior BCCI official told InsideSport, “It’s not like they will be forced to leave a format.
But one has to understand that they are in their mid-30s and are two very important players for India. He needs constant rotation and rests for big series and ICC tournaments.
Someone like Hardik, KL, or Rishabh is ready to take charge:-
But a captain cannot be rotated multiple times. Since T20s won’t be in focus, we have to take Rohit out gradually when someone like Hardik, KL, or Rishabh is ready to take charge.”
The official further added, “Both Hardik and Rishabh have done well as captains. Both are captains in the IPL and they have a lot of time to prove themselves.
Hardik has already proved that in IPL. But there is also KL and he is also learning with Rohit and Virat. But all these talks of change in captaincy will be done only after the World Cup 2023.
When Kohli was going through his worst phase, the idea was that the T20 World Cup would decide his place in the T20 team.
Only Gave a Befitting Reply to His Critics:-
Kohli has not only given a befitting reply to his critics but has also proved that he is perfect for all formats even today.
But despite his peak fitness, he is 34 years old. To continue playing in all three formats, he has to offer a lot more than the rest.
The selectors will only pick him in T20s for major tournaments and big series against England, Australia, or South Africa. He will focus on ODIs and Tests with the World Cup 2023 just a year away.
A BCCI source told PTI, “The selection committee has started this transition phase consciously as T20Is are not a priority in the year 2023.

ODIs and therefore some players can be tried out in certain slots and see if they fit in those slots. T20Is become important again in the year 2024 in the World T20.”
