Cricket Wellington’s new “Coaches Developer Network” initiative is expected to get underway. Cricket coaches are expecting to play a key role in providing training. And mentoring as well as supporting the coach on the job.
The Designed to be a Permanent System:-
Designed to create a sustainable system of coach development across the wider Wellington region, the new program will ensure coaches have access to relevant knowledge, up-to-date coaching methods and ongoing support.

Cricket Wellington community manager Christian Thurston said that in terms of coach development. Not only the present. But the future needs to be addressing.
“The truth is that even the most experienced and successful coaches need feedback and advice,” Thurston said.
Ongoing Support for Coach Developers:-
“Every coach you deal with is different and uses different methods. And this is why ongoing support and check-ins for coach developers are critical to continuous learning.”
Through the initiative, nominated coach developers from local cricket clubs will receive training evenings and regular check-ins. And support from NZC’s Regional Coach Development Manager.
Cricket Wellington will also offer a coaching course. Which was designing to meet. The needing of selecting coach developers in cricket clubs.
Over time, Cricket Wellington hopes to hand over. An NZC-qualified coach developer to every club in Wellington – able to support the development of critical grassroots coaches.

One Johnsonville coach said, “I’ve really enjoyed working. With and getting the support from the Cricket Wellington staff, who I’ve really learned a lot from.”
“I’ve learned a lot, especially how to adapt to different scenarios. And work with different coaching styles.”
