Former Australia coach Justin Langer joins Channel Seven’s commentary team, Langer joins Channel Seven’s commentary team to provide analysis on the Test team, which he had coached recently.

Langer’s move was announced on Friday after widely expected when he stepped down from the opportunity to coach the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL.

Close friend Ricky Ponting – who is also a Channel Seven commentator – selected Langer to coach the Hurricanes, after having himself been appointed as their head of strategy.
But Ponting confirmed last week that Langer had decided against returning to coaching in the short term, and would now comment on the players he coached for four years.
CA has two television broadcasters:-
Coverage of the Seven is only available in Australia, as CA has two television broadcasters that provide separate broadcast feeds on Australia’s home Test matches with separate commentary teams.
Foxtel offers a global feed, with Seven only broadcasting to local Australian audiences.
But Langer’s move is likely to cause some intrigue as he commenting on the team. That he went into messy conditions earlier this year.
Tension in relations with employees:-
Langer wanted to continue coaching Australia’s men’s team longer but was only offering a six-month contract extension in February. After straining relations with players and staff over the past 15 months.
Instead, Langer chose to resign rather than accept a short-term extension.

A group of Langer’s former teammates, including Ponting, later criticized both CA and the players. Forcing Test captain Pat Cummins to defend his team’s role in the saga.
Australia’s next Test assignment will be a two-match home series against the West Indies starting in Perth in late November which is likely to be the start of commentary from Langer.
