The Many Bangladeshi players fell ill due to sea voyage on the tour of West Indies, Bangladesh cricket team had to face dire situation for few hours before their T20 against West Indies in Dominica.

St. Lucia by Sea to Match Venue:-

In fact, the visiting team traveled by sea from St. Lucia to the Match Venue (about 180 km),

Which takes about five hours. However, most Bangladesh players had no prior sea voyage experience and, therefore, by the time the team reached Dominica, most players were vomiting and many had fallen ill.

According to the Bangladesh newspaper Prothom Alo, as soon as the boat reached the middle of the sea, the waves started. Since the boat was not very big and therefore waves six to seven feet high was enough to swing the boat.

Some Players include Shorful Islam and Nafees Iqbal:-

As a result, cricketers started feeling sick one after the other. According to the newspaper report, some of the most affected players were fast bowler Shorful Islam and wicketkeeper-batsman Nafees Iqbal.

Shorefiul also vomited on several occasions during the journey. The report also mentioned that even the West Indies team has never traveled by boat to another island for international games.

One of the Bangladesh cricketers said:-

One of the Bangladesh cricketers who spoke to the newspaper said that they could ‘die’ in such a journey; Another senior cricketer said it was the “worst tour” of his life.

One of the players said, “We are the ones who can fall ill and die here, we, nothing will happen to them.”

Another said, “I have visited many countries, this is the first time I am experiencing something like this. None of us are used to it.

Forget about playing, what if one of us gets seriously ill on a yacht. This is the worst tour of my life.”
