According to cricket officials, the statue could be unveiling on April 23, Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th birthday, or during this year’s World Cup (ODI World Cup 2023).
If installed in April, Mumbai Indians fans will have a great chance to see the idol in its full glory during IPL 2023.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Amol Kale confirmed the announcement to The Indian Express. “This will be the first statue at the Wankhede Stadium, we will decide where it will be placed,” he said.
A small Gift of Appreciation From MCA Would Be:-
He said, “He (Tendulkar) is a Bharat Ratna and everyone knows what he has done for cricket. As soon as he will be 50 years old.
This would be a small token of appreciation from MCA. I spoke to him three weeks back and got his consent.”
Sachin Tendulkar has played 200 Test matches, 463 ODIs, and one T20 for India. In terms of scoring runs in international cricket, he has the most runs (34,357) and centuries (100).
At Wankhede, Tendulkar already has a stand named after him. MCA last season decided to dedicate a corporate box in honor of Sunil Gavaskar and a stand in honor of Dilip Vengsarkar.
