The West Indies Cricket Board, Hosting T20 WC 2024, Accuses ICC Of Discrimination

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: The West Indies Cricket Board, which is hosting T20 WC 2024, accused ICC of discrimination. Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Grave has held the International Cricket Council (ICC) responsible for the financial condition of the West Indies Board.

ICC is Preparing To Co-Host The T20 World Cup:-

He has alleged that the global cricket body does not want West Indies cricket to become stronger. The statement comes as the West Indies are currently preparing to co-host the ICC T20 World Cup with the United States from June 1.

Windies cricket has been full of ups and downs in the last 6 months. The team failed to qualify for the ICC Men’s Team World Cup 2023 in India after losing to Netherlands in the World Cup Qualifier.

Made A Great Comeback With Bilateral Series Win Against England:-

However, the shock West Indies team made a spectacular comeback with a bilateral series win against England on home soil.

They also recorded their first Test win in Australia after 27 years. They leveled the series 1-1 on the strength of debutant fast bowler Shamar Joseph.

But CWI CEO Grave is not happy with the ICC. Speaking on the Wisden Cricket Monthly podcast, Graves said he was fed up with the phrase ‘world cricket needs a stronger West Indies team’, especially when it is doing everything possible to weaken it.

World Cricket Needs A Strong West Indies:-

Graves said, “I think everyone is troubled by the statement that world cricket needs a stronger West Indies, whereas we certainly think that world cricket is doing everything they can at almost every level. We can do everything we can to ensure that West Indies cricket is never strong again.”

Grave said, “The ICC just makes headlines about giving us more money, but the percentage of our revenue has dropped from 7 to 5 percent, which we are struggling to understand.”
