BCCI Media Rights: The Women’s Team’s Media Rights Will Be Free Along With The Broadcast Rights Of Men’s Team. Women’s cricket has grown in popularity globally over the years.

At the same time, the BCCI has not announced any separate package for women’s cricket in the recently invited media rights ie broadcasting rights, nor has it taken out a separate tender process.

Broadcasters will be giving the rights to broadcast women’s cricket free of cost if they buy the rights for the men’s game in an invited tender (ITT).

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI has not come out with any separate package for women’s cricket for the upcoming bilateral series games.

Women’s cricket included in other series:-

Under the tender, BCCI has included women’s cricket in other series. This is considering to be the neglect of Indian women’s cricket.

Other series in the tender invited by BCCI include domestic board tournaments like Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Deodhar Trophy. The board has put international matches of women’s cricket in their category.

The Media rights of WPL were sold for Rs 951 crore:-

The BCCI sold the media rights of the recently launched Women’s Premier League ie WPL for Rs 951 crore last year. These rights have been given to broadcasters for five years.

On the other hand, talking about Cricket Australia and England and Wales Cricket Board. media rights are given separately for international matches including women’s cricket league. These leagues also include the Women’s Big Bash League.

Talking about the upcoming matches of the Indian women’s cricket team, India will host New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, and West Indies tours.

Bilateral series are due in the next three years. Only men’s cricket will be biding in the tender issued by BCCI.

Under the contract, the broadcaster will also be entitling to telecast free-to-air women’s international matches. This was mentioning in the 150-page ITT ie Invitation to Tender.
