Former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Ian Smith believes that veteran pacer Trent Boult release from central contract marks the end of his Test cricket career and is a big loss for the country’s cricket.

New Zealand Cricket’s request for a release from the central contract was recently accepted by New Zealand Cricket so that he could spend more time with his family and be available to play domestic leagues around the world.

Pacer Trent Boult released from New Zealand Cricket contract

Gave this big statement

Former New Zealand legend Ian Smith said that I think Boult release from central contract is probably the end of his Test career. I think it’s a shame because Tim Southee and Trent Boult are probably the best pairing. Bolt made his debut in 2011 and formed a deadly pairing with Saudi. They took 541 wickets in 65 Tests and were considered to be the deadliest opening bowling pair in the world.

This giant is better than Bolt

  • England’s James Anderson and Stuart Broad (973 wickets in 129 Tests),
  • West Indies’ Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh (762 wickets in 95 matches),
  • Pakistan’s Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis (559 wickets in 61 Tests)

were the only Trent in Test matches. Better than Boult. The pair are at number three and fourth respectively among New Zealand’s successful wicket-takers. Saudi has taken 347 and Bolt has taken 317 wickets.

Tim Southee will be affected

Ian Smith said that the lack of Trent Boult will affect Tim Southee, as he will not get the same support from the other end as he used to get earlier. Although both are expected to be in New Zealand’s team in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October.
