The long gap of 12 years and 2 days makes it the longest gap between appearances in Test matches for any player in the 21st century. The left-arm pacer missed 118 Test matches in this time frame.

Only England off-spinner Gareth Batty, who returned to Bangladesh in 2016 after playing in one Test match in 2005, has not played more Test matches (142 matches).
The closest any Indian got to this was when Dinesh Karthik made a Test comeback in 2018 after eight years of playing Tests, having missed 87 Test matches in between.
