Because of this, the BCCI is thinking of sending the B team to India for the Asian Games.
Now it is expected that captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not play in the Asian Games. Because both the players will be busy in the World Cup.
The BCCI is all set to send the list of players to the Indian Olympic Association before June 30.
The Senior players busy playing for the 50-over World Cup:-
Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul are busy playing for the 50-over World Cup.
The BCCI is planning to send a B team consisting of newcomers like Sanju Samson, Rituraj Gaikwad, and Umran Malik.
The Asian Games earlier featured two editions in the year 2010 and 2014. But during that time India had sent neither men’s nor women’s teams.
However, in the year 2023, the Indian team has returned for the Asian Games. Whereas earlier this event was going to be held in the year 2022, but due to Kovid-19, it was extended.
Cricket was part of two editions of the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014, but India did not send women’s and men’s teams.
Will return to the Asiad Games in Hangzhou in 2023:-
The Indian cricket team will finally return to the Asiad Games in Hangzhou in 2023, after missing out on the 2018 edition in Jakarta. The showpiece event was scheduled to be held in 2022 but was postponed due to COVID.
If reports in Indian Express are to be believed, the BCCI is planning to send a top women’s team for the Continental Cup.
Earlier, the Indian board had cited prior commitments as the reason for fielding men’s and women’s teams for the Asian Games.

India’s chef de mission for the Asian Games, Bhupender Bajwa had earlier told The Indian Express that “We have entries in all sports except one, the cricket team is not going.
They said they are busy. We sent them around 3-4 emails but when we had to send the entries to the organisers, they said they will not go”.
