Where Afridi inadvertently displayed his might on none other than an important Indian minister.

In a panel discussion on Pakistani channel A Sports, Waqar Younis admitted that Shahid Afridi made his debut at the age of only 15.

One could feel how much Power Afridi has:-

He said that his handshake was so strong that one could feel how much power Afridi had.

“When Shahid Afridi first arrived. He was only 15 or 16 and was very strong at that age. The first time I shook his hand, I almost sweated, he squeezed it so hard. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why He could hit those big sixes,” Waqar Younis said.

However, it was not only Waqar Younis and his Pakistan teammates who were on the receiving end of Shahid Afridi’s strong handshake.

The former Pakistan pacer recalled an incident during one of his tours of India when a top Indian minister felt the power to shake his hand.

He came to see us and welcomed us:-

“I still remember, we were on a tour of India. I know the name of the Indian minister but I will not name him. He came to see us and welcomed us.

We were all sitting together. He came and we stood up. He met everyone and greeted us. Afridi was a junior, he was standing behind him.

We all shook hands softly as he was an elderly minister. When Afridi’s turn came, he shook hands so loudly,” Younis said.

Shahid Afridi played for Pakistan for 20 years between 1996 and 2016 and stunned the world with his all-rounder ability, especially in white-ball cricket.

In ODIs, Afridi has scored 8054 runs and taken 395 ODI wickets, making him one of only two players to score 8000 runs and take 300 wickets in the 50-over format.
