Was dreaming of becoming PM… distanced himself from politics after a week… Who is that Indian-origin cricketer? Former England spinner of Indian origin Monty Panesar had decided to enter politics after saying goodbye to cricket. His wish was that he would later become Prime Minister one day in politics.

Panesar Changed His Decision After Just A Week:-

For this, he was to contest from Ealing Southall seat of West London in the next general elections, but after a week, Panesar changed his decision. Panesar has now announced his withdrawal as parliamentary candidate for George Galloway’s Workers Party of Great Britain.

Last week, amid much fanfare in Westminster, Galloway introduced 42-year-old Monty Panesar as his candidate. Former left-arm spinner Panesar was to contest from Ealing Southall seat in West London in the next general elections.

He Had To Struggle To Give An Opinion On Britain’s Membership Of NATO:-

However, Panesar decided to withdraw his candidacy after a series of challenging media interviews, one of which had him struggling to give an opinion on Britain’s membership of NATO.

Monty Panesar wrote on X, ‘I am a proud British citizen who has had the honor of representing my country at the highest level of cricket.

Today I Am The General Election Candidate Of The Workers’ Party:-

I now want to contribute my bit to help others but I admit that I am at the beginning of my journey and am still learning how politics can help people. Therefore, today I am withdrawing my name as the general election candidate of the Workers’ Party.

Monty Panesar said last month, ‘I realize that I need more time to listen, learn, and find a political home that is consistent with my personal and political values.’

Panesar had said last month that I want to become the voice of the workers of this country. My aspiration in politics is to become Prime Minister one day where I will make Britain a safe and strong nation.

However, my first job is to represent the people of Ealing Southall. He has played 50 Tests, 26 ODIs, and one T20 match for England. He has 167 wickets in his name in Tests, while he has taken 24 wickets in ODIs.
